Casa Gorordo Cafe : Your quaint museum cafe

If you haven’t been to the Casa Gorordo Museum in Cebu City, Philippines, then let me give you another reason to visit. Nestled in downtown Cebu at Parian, this museum was a 2-storey house built by Alejandro Reynes y Rosales and later on bought by a spanish merchant,  Juan Isidro de Gorordo. This wood and stone type of house dates back to the mid 19th century.

Later on, in the 1980s, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc purchased the house, underwent restoration and renovation until it was opened for public viewing. It was then declared in the year 1991 as a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Institute.

Aside from the museum, your other reason to visit is the Casa Gorordo Cafe which is located just beside the museum. This cafe offers a simple menu of pasta, salads, sandwiches, coffee, cakes and some rice meals at an affordable price.

For our lunch we had the Seafood pasta, Penne Arrabbiata, Chicken Steak (which I forgot to take a picture of), Hungarian Sausage, Ube Cake, Chocolate Cake and Cassava Cake.

My personal favorite here is the Ube Cake. To be honest, I’m not really a big fan of anything Ube but this cake is definitely an exemption for me. Aside from the Ube Cake, I love everything else we have tried here. Not only is it affordable, its quality does not fall far from famous cafes and restaurants.

The cafe’s ambiance also makes you feel like you are taken back to the past with its old fashioned wood windows and stone walls.

On the second floor of the cafe is a souvenir shop to complete your Casa Gorordo tour. They sell goods from local companies at a minimum price.

Ciao for now! 🙂
