“Salt in the air, sand in my hair”. That’s what most people would probably say about their summer. Although I agree that summer wouldn’t be complete without hitting the beach, going up to the mountains is also an option worth doing. Now, I won’t be talking about hiking here but this blog entry is about our recent visit to one of the must go destinations in Mindanao island, Bukidnon.
Bukidnon is a province located in the Northern Mindanao Region. When you speak of Bukidnon, you will immediately think of pineapples. Yes, this province is home to hectares of pineapple plantation. But it doesn’t only offer that, it offers a fun and relaxation experience similar to that of Baguio but without an influx of tourists.
To be honest, I can’t share much about our activities in Bukidnon since during our first day, it rained like cats and dogs when we arrived and we couldn’t go out of our cabin. On the next day, we only had half a day to experience activities in Dahilayan Resort since we had to drive to Camiguin in the afternoon.
However, this post will solely focus about our experience at the Cozy Cabin which is located just across Saddle’s Ridge in Dahilayan, Bukidnon. The Cozy Cabin has three houses for rent. For our group, we stayed at Cabin 1 which is a 2 storey cabin good for 8-12 pax. The cabin is equipped with a kitchen, small living room, balcony on both floors, private bathroom, small pool and a cottage. The place is not airconditioned but to be honest you don’t really need one since it can get extra cold even during summer.
The owner of Cozy Cabin was easy to deal with while booking the place and they were quick to respond to our questions before and during the stay. Don’t be turned off if their Facebook page isn’t updated though. Trust me, they reply when you message or call them. Do also note that cellphone signal can be quite intermittent here so communicating might become a problem.
When we got there, the place was already ready. We each had our own beds with pillows and blankets. The house was already clean. I’d say it’s a suitable place for barkadas or families looking for a cheap accommodation. The cabin is only Php 4,000 for 8pax and an additional Php 250 for the excess number of pax.
Although I want to note a few things as to not exceed your expectations of the place. First, toiletries are not available but they have towels for rent at Php 50. Second, if you have too many old people with you, then this might not be a suitable place to stay overnight. They only have one bedroom on the first floor that can sleep probably up to 3-4pax. Going up to the second floor will be a problem for old people with knee problems since the stairs are quite steep. Third, they only have one bathroom so it can be a problem if the group is too large.
Overall, I think our stay here was good although not perfect. I’d still consider staying here again whenever the time comes that I’ll be back in Dahilayan, Bukidnon. The fresh cold breeze and the lovely mornings here are worth coming back to.
Ciao for now 🙂
