Craving for Korean Food? Head out to Topokki Man

Korea has invaded the Philippines. So okay, maybe not the kind of invasion like the Spanish invasion, but Kpop and Kdrama has taken the Philippines by storm. We, or most filipinos, have come to embrace their culture including their food and korean restaurants popping all over the metro is a testament to this.

However, this one particular Korean restaurant at Banilad/Talamban area is no longer new. Topokki Man, located at Rosedale Place Banilad, beside University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus, is probably one of my favorite restaurants here in Cebu. I cannot count the number of times I’ve been here. To be honest, I’ve eaten here at least once for the past three weeks as of writing. That’s how I cannot get enough of it and let me tell you the reasons why.

Topokki Man serves korean food favorites like Topokki, Ramyun, Dakangjung (bite sized spicy chicken), Bibimbop, Kimbop, Korean BBQ, fish cake and more. They also have free side dishes available like kimchi and pickled vegetables when you order certain meals.

Most Korean restaurants in the city are expensive. However, in Topokki Man, you can already get a full meal at Php 150, a plate of Topokki at Php 130, a big bowl of ramyun at Php 110, mini Kimbop at Php 70 and more. Their price range is at Php 15 to Php 600 (set meals good for 4-5pax).  To give you an idea on how much we usually spend at one meal, it would just be around Php 130-150 shared price.

It’s not new for korean dishes to have huge servings when it comes to food since it is common for them to share and bond over it. Remember Kdrama scenes? It is also like this at Topokki Man. Their dishes are good for 2-3 people probably except for the rice meals but I still see people sharing it. When you have friends with you, you can share the meals and try out their different menu and share the cost as well.

Korean food is really good in itself. But at Topokki Man, satisfying your korean food cravings will be worth while. Given that the place already existed since I was in college (I graduated 2012 lol), is a testament that they serve great food. I also notice Koreans dining here whenever I would come to visit. My personal favorites here would be their Topokki with Mozzarella cheese and Dakangjung.

Yes they do! There are times when we would go overtime at work, we would have Topokki Man delivered straight to our office. If you are too lazy or don’t have enough time to go out for a meal, you can just call them and have korean food at your doorstep. The best part is that they don’t have a minimum order (well, not that I know of) and they give a free 1.5liter softdrinks if your order reaches Php 1,000. However, I am not quite sure if they cater to all areas in Cebu so maybe you can give them a call and verify further.

So there you have it. My top reasons why Topokki Man is my favorite go to place in town.

Are you craving yet for Korean food? Fret not cause Topokki Man is open from 10:00am to 11:00pm, Mondays through Saturdays. Be early though, cause their restaurant isn’t that big and it could get really packed especially on peak hours. But don’t worry if you won’t get a seat immediately cause I tell you that the wait will be worth it. 🙂
